Signage Substrate/Vinyl FAQ

What are vinyl graphics?  Vinyl graphics include letters and logos that are precisely cut on a large sheet of vinyl.  This allows the production of high quality color graphics that can be used on many signs, windows, commercial vehicles, and boats.

What substrates can my vinyl graphics be applied to?  We can apply you vinyl design to banners, magnetic material, corrugated plastic, aluminum, glass, windows, license plates, automobiles, and boats.  We also offer stakes and frames for corrugated plastic and aluminum signs.

Is removal of my vinyl decal difficult?  Removing a decal from glass is very easy.  Simply slide a razor blade under the decal and peel off.  Once removed, any remaining traces of glue can be removed with glass cleaner.  Painted surfaces require a bit more work.  Use a plastic razor blade to prevent scratching to the paint.  Remove any remaining glue

Can you make vinyl decals of any sports logo if I have the image?  Mind’s Eye Graphics, Inc cannot duplicate copyrighted artwork unless given written permission by the owner of the copyrighted artwork.  Changing or editing minor details does not make it any more legal to reproduce.

Is it ok if my windshield wipers hit the vinyl decal?  This is a valid area of concern.  Most decals will fare well even with windshield wipers hitting them.  However, the wipers can pick up dirt and scratch even the glass.  If they scratch the glass, they will damage the decal.  As long as you ensure that the wipers stay clean and do not wear out, you should get many years of use.

What kind of care and cleaning is involved in magnetic signs?  While most customers purchasing a vehicle magnet from us slap on their sign and forget about it, there are a few points to keep in mind:

·         Freshly applied paint can give off solvents for some time.  Paint should be allowed to cure completely before applying the magnetic sign.  Check with the painter for the exact curing time.

·         The surface of the vehicle and both sides of the magnet should be wiped free of dirt and debris.  The particles can rub on the paint and after some time, could leave faint scratch marks.  Periodic cleaning of the vehicle and magnet are also recommended for years of use.

·         Rarely, conditions during wet winter weather may cause water to freeze between the surface of the paint and the magnetic material.  This may loosen the magnet and cause it to become detached from your vehicle.  It is best to remove the magnet during severe weather conditions.

·         Magnets should be stored flat in a warm dry area.  Cold conditions may cause the magnetic material to crack while moisture can prevent the magnet from adhering correctly to your vehicle.
